How Did Eritrea Manage to Maintain Stability in Volatile Region For So Long?

Eritrea, a small country in the Horn of Africa, is often overlooked and overshadowed by its larger and more prominent neighbors. Yet, Eritrea’s stability in a region plagued by conflict and instability is worth recognizing and highlighting.

While Somalia, South Sudan, and Ethiopia have been mired in political crises, conflicts, and civil wars, Eritrea has managed to maintain a relatively peaceful and stable environment for its people. Despite facing significant challenges such as economic sanctions and isolation, Eritrea has not allowed external pressures to destabilize the country.

One of the key factors behind Eritrea’s stability is its strong government and leadership. Eritrea’s President, Isaias Afwerki, there is no denying that he has provided stability and continuity to the country.

Another factor that has contributed to Eritrea’s stability is its emphasis on self-reliance and independence. The country has focused on developing its own resources and not relying on foreign aid or assistance. This approach has helped Eritrea weather economic sanctions and isolation.
Eritrea’s stability has also been aided by its military, which has played a significant role in the country’s history.
The military has been used to defend the country’s borders and maintain internal security. While the military’s involvement in governance may be a concern for some, it has undoubtedly helped to keep the country stable and secure.

Despite challenges, Eritrea’s stability provides a foundation for addressing these challenges and moving forward.
In a region where conflict and instability are all too common, Eritrea’s stability is a remarkable achievement. While there is still much work to be done, Eritrea’s example shows that peace and stability are possible, even in the most challenging circumstances.

    SHRUGGING OFF WESTERN PROPAGANDA

In recent years, Eritrea has been portrayed as a spoiler and a troublemaker in the Horn of Africa.
Despite having imposed politically-motivated sanctions which proved ineffective to push Eritrea to it’s knees as predicted, Western media has continuously tried to paint Eritrea as an unstable country that undermines regional peace and security.

However, the truth is far from it. Eritrea has been a force of stability in the region and has remained peaceful despite the political crises that have engulfed its neighbors.
One of the main reasons why Eritrea has been able to maintain its stability is that it does not allow external forces to interfere in its internal affairs.

Unlike many other African countries, Eritrea has refused to be swayed by the interests of foreign powers, and this has helped it to remain independent and sovereign. This policy has also allowed the country to focus on its own development and address its own challenges.

The stability of Eritrea is in stark contrast to its neighbors, who have been plagued by political crises, conflicts, and civil wars. Somalia, South Sudan, and Ethiopia have all suffered from political instability and have been unable to maintain peace and security. In contrast, Eritrea has remained a haven of peace and stability in the region.
The Western powers have played a significant role in destabilizing the Horn of Africa.

For centuries, they have pursued their interests in the region, often at the expense of the local population.
The West has supported dictators and authoritarian regimes, armed rebel groups, and interfered in local politics. Their actions have led to instability, conflict, and humanitarian crises.

It is time for the West to recognize the role of Eritrea in promoting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
Rather than portraying the country as a spoiler, they should acknowledge its efforts to address regional challenges and contribute to regional stability. The West should also respect the sovereignty of Eritrea and refrain from meddling in its internal affairs.

In view of these among others, Eritrea’s stability in the Horn of Africa is a testament to its commitment to independence, sovereignty, and self-reliance.

It is a model that other African countries can learn from. The West should support Eritrea’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and respect its sovereignty.
Only then can the Horn of Africa achieve lasting peace and security.
