    Breakthrough in Sudan conflict; as rivals agree to name negotiation representatives

    Khartoum – The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has announced it made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing Sudanese conflict which whish killed over 500 people and injured mire than 2000 others.

    The bloody violence also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands, amid significant oxodus, largely from the capital, Khartoum.

    The head of the IGAD mediation team, Salva Kiir, the president of the neighboring South Sudan has said on Tuesday evening that he has secured the consent of the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its rival paramilitary force, The Rapid Support Force (RSF) to name their negotiation representatives, signalling possible start of peace negotiations between the two sides.

    The announcement came after over weeks of talks and negotiations between the various stakeholders in the Sudanese crisis, including the government, including the African Union, and international partners.

    The talks are aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict that has been ravaging the country for over two weeks.

    The development is seen as a significant step forward in the peace process.

    The two rival military forfes have been at the forefront of the conflict, with their armed forces engaged in intense across the capital and surrounding regions.

    President Kiir, has been leading the IGAD mediation efforts in Sudan in an attempt to bring the parties to the negotiating table and end the conflict which risks descending the north African country into cicil war.
