NAIROBI – The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, is set to be recognized for his significant contribution to the Ethiopia peace deal and its successful implementation.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa, in November 2023.
Dr. Gebeyehu played a pivotal role in facilitating the peace negotiations between the Ethiopian government and various rebel groups.
Since the signing of the peace agreement, Mr. Gebeyehu has continued to work tirelessly to ensure its successful implementation.
His efforts have included regular meetings with key stakeholders and the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the progress of the peace process.
Regional diplomats told Horn Examiner that the upcoming award ceremony is a testament to Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu’s dedication and commitment to peace and security in the region.
